What is Tent Pegging?
Tent pegging is a competitive equestrian sport, in which a mounted horseman charges towards a peg at full gallop with a lance or a sword. Her aim is to uproot and carry the peg for a certain distance and the peg gets smaller at each subsequent stage of the competition.
This sport is derived from the military’s exercise whereby a group of mounted soldiers would ride through an enemy camp in a pre-dawn raid, removing the pegs which held the tents in place, with the tips of their sharp spears. Foot soldiers could then attack the enemy as they struggled to get out from under the collapsed tents; thus giving the practice it’s name of Tent pegging. As the military strategy became obsolete, enthusiasts developed it into a competitive sport.
What is Krav Maga?
Contrary to popular belief, Krav Maga is NOT a martial art. Its a form of Self Defense. What is the difference you might ask? Martial art is a sport whereby you have to follow rules, referees, matts and several other constraints. You fight someone in the same weight category as yourself and it is almost always a one on one fight. Self Defense is for real life, and war situations whereby you have to deal with weapons, multiple attackers and you cannot rely on gloves, matts, referees or any other convenience. You are trained to defend yourself and your loved ones under any circumstances.
Krav Maga was developed before World War II in Europe when Jewish tribes were being attacked by Nazis.
